The practice of yoga began for me over 30 years ago with asana
classes in community centers, private homes, and yoga studios.
As a dental hygienist for 20 years I was continuously bent over
patients and my body paid the price. Yoga provided much
physical relief. Family, work, and personal responsibilities didn’t
always allow much time for practice but somehow I found bits of
time through the years for yoga classes in all the states in which
I lived. My husband’s medical and surgical training transplanted
us from Oregon to Texas for seven years, Missouri for five, and
Washington for three, eventually returning to Oregon in 1998. In
Salem I was able to devote more time to yoga, which culminated
with my yoga teacher certification in March 2011. Since 1998
I have been the Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at Willamette
Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery. A board member of
Friends of Straub Environmental Learning Center for two years
I will serve as Vice President July 2011-2012. I was honored
with the Marion County Green Awards Recycling Educator of the
Year in March 2010. I am a mother of a son who graduated from
Willamette University May 2011. As a recreational runner I enjoy
Saturday mornings running with others in my pace group. Yoga
and running are complimentary and I continue to grow from both.
Yoga is a personal journey, one that grows deeper with time and
patience. As a teacher I hope to facilitate your journey.
